DonnaKay

I began building this guitar in the same batch as this DonnaKay, although I completed assembly on that guitar before this one. The contouring on this instrument is equally as comfortable and as alluring. And I love walnut. It's unquestionably my favorite guitar body wood, both to work with and play. It takes a little elbow grease to fill the open pores when finishing - if that's the preference - but it's a beautiful wood that tools well and sounds great, acoustically. This particular walnut is locally grown and cut by my good friend Steve Chapman at his sawmill. The top is big leaf maple from the Pacific Northwest.

Although it's hard to tell in the photos, the neck is carved with a slight boat keel V, making it extremely comfortable to play. The nutwidth is 1 5/8".

The logo is silver leaf under numerous coats of Tru-oil, which gives it a bit of an amber blush. FYI, this is one of only a handfull of guitars that I used silver or gold leaf for the logos.

I can't stop showing off the back of this instrument. The walnut is beautiful. It moves me. I also can't emphasize enough how comfortable this guitar is to play, either strapped or seated.
